| | Expansion Torke® Coffee Roasting Co. has broken ground on an expansion of its roasting facility in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. The planned expansion includes upgrades of materials handling, distribution and office operations. The past years have been a time of incredible growth for the Torke Coffee Roasting Company and expansion is mandatory to handle this increase.
The new expansion, facilitated by Jim Pankow Inc., will house a new distribution area. “The new area will increase the plant's shipping and receiving capacity and dramatically streamline the process,” added Allen Berchem, Vice President.
In addition, Torke Coffee’s customer service, sales and marketing, accounting and commodity departments will move into a new 6500-square-foot office space in the planned expansion. A conference and training center will be included which will be used for training, sales meetings and other functions. Also planned in the expansion, Torke Coffee is including space for a cupping room and testing laboratory. While the current expansion project is the largest in company history, John Thomack, Vice President of Sales, adds, “That the next 5 years will see many more additions and expansions at Torke Coffee’s headquarters.”
A new employee cafe is also included in the plan. Jay Torke, of Torke Coffee, says, “These expansion projects were necessitated by rapidly expanding sales in almost every product line.” The majority of Torke Coffee's revenue is derived from its wholesale operation that serves supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, cafes, lodging properties and other locations where fine coffees are sold.
