At Torke Family Coffee Roasters, giving back is a part of who we are. Through our “Every Cup Gives” initiative, we wanted to give back to a cause close to our hearts. That’s why, when it came to selecting a new organization we could support through “Every Cup Gives,” Boys & Girls Clubs, including seven Clubs across Sheboygan County, was at the top of our list.

Since 1994, Boys & Girls Clubs have supported Sheboygan County by providing safe, inclusive spaces, equitable opportunities, and life-changing programs for hundreds of local kids and teens. The Sheboygan County Clubs impact children from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic, and faith backgrounds, many of whom face challenges they have no control over.

Boys & Girls Clubs’ mission is to “inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need [them] most, to reach their full potential, as productive, caring, responsible citizens.” With over 1,500 Club members and 22,180 meals served, Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County make a significant impact on the lives of local children.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County make so much of an impact that every dollar invested returns nearly $10 in benefits to the communities they serve. When the community invests in the Club, they help make programs affordable. This allows parents and guardians to work while feeling confident their kids are safe and cared for before school, after school, and during the summer.  

The Club provides children both short and long-term life-enrichment opportunities. Low-income students regularly attending the Club receive As and Bs more often in school. By ninth grade, Club boys are more likely to exercise daily. And, by twelfth grade, Club members report monthly volunteering at nearly twice the rate of their peers. Club girls are also over three times as likely to express an interest in a STEM career.

Boys & Girls Clubs have always been dear to our family’s hearts. In 2018, Ward Torke was awarded the Club’s Lifetime Leadership Award for his sustained commitment to education and nutrition support for local youth. Currently, Lynda Torke serves on the Board of Directors and is a past President of the Sheboygan County Board.

As our current charity of choice, our dedication of an in-kind donation will benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County, directly supporting Brain Gain (a program proven to help kids gain and retain reading and math skills), trauma and mental health training for staff, and their healthy meals and snack programs.
